[Pkg-sysvinit-devel] Bug#552248: initscripts: checkfs.sh fails with "device doesn't exist" on ext4 /home

Both machines are running on different brand/model of recent sata
drives, and have been happily running on Debian several years for one of
them (desktop), and six month for the other one (laptop). They have
different sata controllers, and they don't display this behavior in
neither Fedora11 (tested on the Desktop) and Ubuntu Karmic (on the laptop).
Bootlog is enabled, so is bootchart, I attach the bootlog from last
failed boot, and bootcharts of normal and failed boot.
I'll try a "sleep 5" tomorrow, I am not on the US timezone and I'm the
one going to use a sleep loop right now...
I won't argue over severity, that's your call, the bug just showed up
simultaneously on two very dissimilar machines, so I suspect others will
experience the same issue when they'll hit a fsck on reboot.
Let me know if I can provide any other information, or provide logs from
a boot on a standard Debian kernel (those attached are from a custom one).
Thanks for your attention.
