Great! I really hope we can get it into policy and make sure all
init.d scripts have it. For that to happen lintian need to push it
too.

I implemented the status action in some of of the init.d scripts in
the initscripts package, and then I had problems with the ones you
mention here and left them for later.
I am not quite sure how to handle this, but lean towards 0/OK too. Or
perhaps add code to detect if the 'start' action is running and report
off it it isn't.

Probably not, but perhaps if the start action is running.
