And that's at least one too much. sysklogd needs to die.

Agreed. /var/log/dmesg (*with rotation*) is _extremely_ useful, I use
it at nearly every reboot due to a kernel upgrade (diff -u
/var/log/dmesg.0 /var/log/dmesg)...
Roger, I do think we should add it back in either initscripts or
sysvinit.
