[Pkg-sysvinit-devel] Bug#676520: Downgraded to testing, now what?

I have downloaded sysv-rc to testing so other upgrades can proceed.

The "recommendations." i.e purging initscripts, are impossible due to its
widesperad dependents, and is absurd.

So I can get along with testing until some resolution is possible.

Note that the announcement of no more static inits was with the sysv-rc
version on experimental. Sid overstepping experimental, as in this case, is
dangerous, huh?

1. Besides manually getting rid of some cruft that is no longer used, what
else can be sensibly done?

2. What about file-rc? Is this safe and a viable alternative? (I do not want
to brick the whole system.)

3. What about installing file-rc, then reinstalling sysv-rc. Will the
conversion in and out of the single runlevel.conf resolve the problem??

(OF course, before doing anything, I would make a copy of /etc.)
