Is grub using an initramfs/initrd?
You should have something like
/boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-2-686-pae
when you take a look (edit on the boot menu), or look in
/boot/grub/grub.cfg.
Also, what's the output of "cat /proc/mounts" after boot?
Thanks,
