Status update:
I've started looking into some of the details (mostly reading
up on update-rc.d and making some still very untested changes to it,
but also looking at dh_systemd_* and deb-systemd-*).
I moved files over from "init-tools" into "init-system-helpers"
and rebased the wip/init-tools branches on both sides.
Some background:
Couldn't really see much difference in using a new "init-tools"
package and just shipping the files in "init-system-helpers" package.
There has been discussions about getting rid of the dh_systemd_*
scripts (in favor of pushing proper systemd support into debhelper).
How that would affect deb-systemd-{helper,invoke} is unclear but
it might be that those also goes away (possibly by being shipped
by some other package, like debhelper?).
The currently quite massive reverse dependency list on init-system-helpers
should shrink as soon as dh_systemd_* stops inserting into substvar
misc:Depends, but that might not happen if deb-systemd-* stays
in the init-system-helpers package (even when debhelper replaces
dh_systemd_*). It's just too soon to tell until someone starts
working on deprecating dh_systemd_*.
Any input appreciated....

Andreas Henriksson
