Do you have (or do you have time to set up) a test environment where
you can check whether sysvinit patches are sensible ?  I don't have
one right now and (obviously) am quite busy.  So I'm kind of hoping to
"volunteer" you ...

At the very least I think we need to decide what to do about
  #757083  initscripts: please treat /usr (if separate) the same as /
There's allegedly a patch there.

The other RC bug is #851446.  On my system I have /run/shm as the
mountpoint.  I haven't edited the init scripts.  So I think something
is still probably not working as intended despite Roger Leigh's
changes in 2.88dsf-30.  (Or maybe there is no plan to actually change
existing setups.)

It would also be sensible to review the bugs which allegedly have
patches and perhaps apply and/or test some of them.

In practice I don't think we have time to do a proper sweep of all the
outstanding bugs before stretch.
