Thank you for the link, Thomas. I'll take a look at the patches and try
to get them merged into my tree.

Side note: It would be great is someone(s) could try out my changes thus
far. I've tried to address several issues presented in the Savannah bug
tracker. These changes (with a changelog) can be found here:
https://github.com/slicer69/sysvinit/tree/savannah

I've tested and so far it looks like I've avoided messing anything up
while fixing a few things. But I'd like to get that confirmed before I
make even more changes.

On yet another topic: Is there a protocol for setting up a new git
repository on Savannah? I'm happy to do this, but I don't want to step
on any toes of existing developers / project leads.
