Since it works fine with KDE, the chance is 50/50 whether it's ion3 or
empathy. But anyway...

I haven't done anything to configure NetworkManager. The system has been
installed normally with the Debian installer (using the DHCP
autoconfiguration option) and networking works fine for any other
program I've used so far.
