Could you try to log into FreeWorldDialup with empathy while running:
$ TPORT_LOG=true SOFIASIP_DEBUG=all SOFIASIP_PERSIST=true /usr/lib/telepathy/telepathy-sofiasip
That should show what's going wrong on a more low-level.
The problem with ekiga.net is a known but, hopefully a sofiasip library with a
workaround will be released soon.
