Well this is not a empathy issue, but looks more a libcanberra one.

Do you know if libcanberra-gtk-module has ever be installed on your
machine? Actually this could have been some leftover files in /etc
when you previously removed the package (without purging it). This
problem has been addressed in 0.28-3.
