No need to wait for the DD status to do work ;) I could sponsor
the upload whenever we agree that it is ready. NEW queue is jammed now
so sooner we upload the better

and here he is on the thread again ;)

nope :(

well -- there were already many efforts, but I could not get clarity on
the formalities which precluded its upload to Debian (while it is
already in Ubuntu)

So your and Osamu's packaging is at
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/libjpeg-turbo.git
already... which seems to be more ahead than
http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=libjpeg-turbo.git;a=summary

it should be worth checking on what is in ubuntu and adopting
changes where fit, and just upload ;-)

awesome . I will try to help where/when I could
