I have attempted update of packaging for 1.4.90 (forgot that beta is
out, just did uscan).  And stopped at it requiring freshier fltk
(1.3.3), so filed #791346.   Possibly we could make it build with older
one if reintroduce few ifdefs they previously had (e.g. for
HAVE_FLTK_FULLSCREEN_FULLSCREENS), but thought it would have been
counter-productive.
