Package: tigervnc-viewer
Version: 1.7.0+dfsg-7
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I could reproduce the following behaviour on several different computers
with comparable combination of display- and window manager xdm and
fvwm. But I was not able to reproduce this behaviour on a testmachine
with lightdm and xfwm4/xfce4.

Steps to reproduce: Open a text file in an editor (e. g. leafpad)
try to select some text, either with your mouse or with your keyboard.
The selected text will appear inverted, you can do several kinds of
operations (copy&paste...) on the selection. Behaviour as expected...

Now open xtigervncviewer to control any remote host (this bug don't
appear when opening a connection to localhost!).

Switch back to the editor and try to select some text again - the
result is no longer predictable! You will not be able to select any
text with your mouse. For a short moment a shadow may appear,
indicating that the system tries to mark the selected text.

Now try to paste the text, you just selected (middle mouse button). A
few letters may be pasted, but not the whole text.

Select some text with your keyboard. Shadow again, but no inversion.
With some ingenuity (shift Home, shift cursor...) , you will be able
to copy&paste whole words or even one complete line - but no more.

Deinstalling tigervnc-viewer and falling back to any other vncviewer
will solve this problem.
