[Pkg-utopia-maintainers] f-spot: possible dependency problem

After reading the email from Chris McRaven above, I checked my
dbus-1-utils version and found that it was 0.23.4-8, which was
probably pulled in by the package liferea when I installed it quite
some time ago.

    kevin at scout:~$ apt-cache show dbus-1-utils
    <snip>
    Status: install ok installed
    Priority: optional
    Section: utils
    Installed-Size: 216
    Maintainer: D-Bus Maintainance Team <debian-dbus at fooishbar.org>
    Architecture: i386
    Source: dbus
    Version: 0.23.4-8
    Replaces: dbus-1 (<< 0.20-4)
    <snip>

So I would presume f-spot needed a more current version of
dbus-1-utils in order to work correctly.

What I'm confused about is why didn't my dbus-1-utils upgrade
automatically over the last number of months? I don't have anything
pinned, so it should have upgraded automatically with the various
releases.

I got my f-spot to work again by apt-get remove'ing dbus-1-utils
(which also removed liferea) and then apt-get install'ing
dbus-1-utils again, which pulled in the current version 0.94-1.

In looking at the debian/control file for f-spot, I do not find any
mention of dbus-1-utils in the Depends:. While earlier versions of
f-spot may not have needed it, the current version does and it
should be added to the Depends:.
