Ah, so the new hal is just not yet built for i386 then? because I didn't
see any reverse dependencies in my aptitude.

Maybe add that to the package description to make that more obvious.
(e.g. "This package contains architecture independent data files for
the HAL service, and is automatically installed by it.")
