- /var/run/$foo is automatically cleaned upon removal
- dpkg -L lists the directory, resp. I can search for the package which
owns /var/run/$bar
- no dependency on the sysv init script:
+ In case you use another init system
+ You have disabled the sysv init script -> run dir is not
automatically created. Now if you run the daemon manually, it will fail
or possibly have unexpected behaviour
ergo: dirs+chown in postinst is imho the best option.
