NetworkManager spams syslog with useless hal and wpa-supplicant debug
messages. This is not configurable--it is hardcoded in. The
wpa-supplicant argument line is hard coded with "-dd". There is no way
to reduce this chatter without editing the source and recompiling.

To give you an idea of the scale of the chatter:

$ cat /var/log/syslog /var/log/syslog.0 | grep -c NetworkManager
13409
$ cat /var/log/syslog /var/log/syslog.0 | wc -l
19069

Note that my access point does not use WPA, and I have not actually
encountered other error conditions with NetworkManager as of
/var/log/syslog.0.
