Package: network-manager
Version: 0.6.5-3
Severity: normal
Hi,
I'm using an openvpn connection to access a certain subnet only.
That VPN connection deliberately doesn't setup a DNS server;
it's just a security measure to provide encrypted access to certain services.
However I can't really use the VPN functionality of network-manager for
that, because it loses my proper DNS entry.
So I'm connected to a wired ethernet via
Network-Manager. /etc/resolv.conf is setup correctly, and I have working
DNS. After connecting to the VPN (which is only used for a /24 network),
the file contains only
--
# generated by NetworkManager, do not edit!
--
Instead of writing an empty file, it should either merge the settings
when connected to a VPN (especially if it's not setting up a new default
route!) or at least noticing that it didn't get any useful data from the
VPN connection and then stick to the previous configuration...
