Could you clarify this for me?
I understand that if you boot up without a battery inserted, the battery
information is not present in the sysfs. I wonder what happens when you
insert a battery after booting up; does an entry for it appear in the
sysfs?
If not then this is a kernel bug; if so then it is a bug in HAL for not
noticing the inserted battery (or maybe still a kernel bug if it is up
to the kernel to notify HAL that a battery has appeared).
