[Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#418176: Looking to get this fixed in the next etch release

I would very much like to see this solved in the next etch release. What can 
be done for this purpose?

The severity of this is in that etch users can't mount ntfs with KDE/HAL. I 
don't know about other desktop environments.

I am trying to find out whether the etch hal can be neatly patched to fix this 
bug. Is this plausable?
