Is NetworkManager running at all (pgrep NetworkManager)?
Please stop any running instance and run "NetworkManager --no-daemon" as root,
and attach the output. Could you also check the /var/log/auth.log, maybe you are
missing the necessary dbus permission to connect to the NetworkManager dbus service.
