[Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#543274: Wishlist: ignore rules for logcheck, see attached proposal

Package: network-manager-gnome
Severity: wishlist

Attached is a set of rules for logcheck that enables it to filter
boring messages from network-manager-gnome. The rules are suitable for
a workstation and are meant to go in the file
/etc/logcheck/ignore.d.workstation/network-gnome-manager

I didn't bother splitting the rules up and making an
/etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server version, since it doesn't make sense
using gnome on a server anyway. I guess some people might want to run
the server setting on their workstation; logcheck does allow for that.
If someone was so inclined, s/he could move some of the regexps from
/etc/logcheck/ignore.d.workstation/network-gnome-manager to
/etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/network-gnome-manager.

I am currently using these rules to reduce the amount of noise
logcheck sends me from my laptop. While there surely is room for
improvement, the rules seem to be doing their job pretty well.

I made this for my laptop, where I currently run Ubuntu Linux, but I
think this will probably work equally good on Debian GNU/Linux. The
original version had an Ubuntu-specific line, that refered to Ubuntu
bug #191899, which might be related to Debian bug #471191. Since I'm
not using this software on any of my Debian GNU/Linux boxes, I am
unable to tell.

Here is a link to the Ubuntu bug report for reference:

Please consider this for inclusion. Thanks.

Regards,
