[Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#562851: hal: load average constantly at about 1.00

Package: hal
Version: 0.5.14-1
Severity: normal
When running hal the load average on this acer travelmate 5730 is constantly
at about 1.00. Shutting down hal reduces the load to near zero values. Top
constantly shows udevd running, and I initially expected udevd to be the
source of the problem. I purged all software depending on hal from my system
(in addition to hal mainly gdm and software depending on gdm) and the problem
was gone. After a fresh hal reinstallation the load returned to 1.00
values. Other (desktop) computers I maintain that are running hal do not show
the high load. Stopping hal reduces the load (of cource rendering the
computer useless). Stopping gdm does not reduce the load.
