reassign 471191 network-manager-gnome
retitle 471191 NM thinks the network is disconnected when it's not managing it
thanks
Hi,
Liferea uses NetworkManager's DBus interface to know if your computer is online
or not. As Rodrigo said, you likely had NM installed and running, but not
configured, so it was reporting your computer as being offline.
This was workarounded for Lenny:
network-manager-applet (0.6.6-4) unstable; urgency=low
* debian/patches/08-manual_means_always_online.patch
- manual-means-online: If there are interfaces that are not managed by
NetworkManager because they have custom configuration in
/etc/network/interfaces, we assume to be online and show a wired network
icon indicating manual network configuration.
but that patch was dropped:
network-manager-applet (0.7.0.97-1) unstable; urgency=low
- Remove 08-manual_means_always_online.patch, obsolete.
So I'm not sure whether this is fixed or not in unstable. Anyway I'm reassigning
to network-manager, Michael, feel free to close this if NM doesn't report the
network being offline when it's not managing the connection.
Cheers,
Emilio
