[Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Query on "Bonjour conformance test" with avahi-autoipd

Hi All,

This is Sathya and I am presently in the process of finding the right debian
package which would assign Link local addressing and pass the Apple's
"Bonjour conformance test".

As a part of this, I could see the following two issues with avahi-autoipd
package,

1. I understand that when the cable is plugged back, dhclient will get a
routable address if it there's a dhcp server. However, if there is still no
DHCP server, avahi won't re-validate its linklocal current address, which
violates one of the requirements for Bonjour.

2. Besides, if the system currently has a routable address, and then you
unplug the cable and put it into a network that has no DHCP server, unlike a
windows PC, it won't automatically assign itself a linklocal address.

Based on this, I don’t think it can pass Apple’s Bonjour conformance test
without significant changes.

Could you please let me know your thoughts on this. If you agree on this,
could you please let me know your views to further proceed on this (or)
could you please help me out by providing an alternative debian package
which does this.

Thanks and regards,
Sathya
