> nm-applet didn't apear in the panel, so it wasn't usable. The solution which worked for me was to install gnome-icon-theme. After that I just tried if the problem comes back, if i remove gnome-icon-theme. But it still works after removing it. So the icon seams to be there, and the problem isn't realy a missing icon.

So you see, the icon is shipped in the package. My only guess is, that
it's a problem with the icon cache. Do you have a file
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/icon-theme.cache and does it help if you delete
that?
As far as I can see, it's not a bug in network-manager-gnome itself.
