64 threads, to be exact. See [1] why that is.

I cannot reproduce that. Do you have any output in syslog when that happens?
Can you reliably reproduce this problem (and how)?
Can you strace the console-kit-daemon process, when it is using 100%CPU.
What's the output of ck-list-sessions in such a case?
