Hi all,

although the problem seems to be almost solved, I still am in trouble.
I have also done an aptitude full-upgrade from lenny to squeeze.
And non of the work arounds suggested did work for me so far.

no luck here, I tried things like:

$ sudo dpkg --configure -a

Setting up hal (0.5.14-1) ...
Reloading system message bus config...done.
Starting Hardware abstraction layer: haldinvoke-rc.d: initscript hal, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing hal (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 hal

no, there is no hald running at all:

$ ps ax | grep hal
 3711 tty1     R+     0:00 grep hal

This is my machine:

$ uname -a

Linux blackbox 2.6.30-2-amd64 #1 SMP Mon Dec 7 05:21:45 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Any help? Would you need any more data to analyse this situation?

Cheers,

Laurens
