tbh, I'm tired of fighting this fight. In reality there are just too many apps
that break when you restart dbus, leading to a *very* bad user experience.
If you want to fight this battle, be my guest. For now, I don't see a way to
revert this, without getting many unhappy users. The sad truth is, that most
upstreams simply don't care.
If you are willing to work on this, just install a default GNOME install (with
gdm3) and then restart dbus and see what happens. If all that breakage that then
happens is fixed, I'm fine with reverting it, but not before.
In summary, I'm fine with reverting that change, as soon as the default installs
of KDE/GNOME/XFCE cope fine with dbus restart. Atm they simply don't. That's a
fact. Anyone who cares enough needs to step up and do the work.
