[Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#620707: consolekit: ck-list-sessions seems to never work

When no X server is running:
# ck-list-sessions

** (ck-list-sessions:3000): WARNING **: Failed to get list of seats: Launch helper exited with unknown return code 1

When an X server has been launched by root using startx the result is the
same, but if startx is done by an unprivileged user, one gets:

# ck-list-sessions

** (ck-list-sessions:4324): WARNING **: Failed to get list of seats: Activation of org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit timed out

I have chosen an important severity because I believe that this problem
might be related to a few other not normal situations I meet on my system:

1. if startx is ran by root with gnome the gnome-orca screenreader
works normally, but when startx is ran by another user
the screenreader does not detect any app, perhaps because they are not even
launched ?

2. gdm does not display its login banner.
Its log file /var/log/:0-slave.log contains the following message:
WARNING: Unable to open session: Launch helper exited with unknown return
code 1
