Hi,

I just upgraded my wheezy installation and can confirm the bug. I hope 
to provide some more details.

The 'blinking' seems to periodically occur every 30 seconds, as if the 
monitor goes to power save mode and than immediately awakes again (I 
assume that is what's happening here?)

I also use an ATI graphics card, in case this is related:

VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc R480 [Radeon X850XT]


Furthermore, I use gnome with a dual monitor setup:
Monitor 1: 1280 x 1024
Monitor 2: 1920 x 1080 (primary)

The 'blinking' only occurs on one monitor. Usually on Monitor 2 with the 
higher resolution. I played with different resolutions for both 
monitors, and in some configurations the blinking occurs on the other 
monitor. I cannot really tell if this is directly related to the monitor 
resolution.

Anyway, since the blinking always only happens to one monitor, _maybe_ 
there is no problem in a single monitor setup.

Furthermore I suggest to increase the severity. There is no data loss or 
instability, but the constant blinking is so annoying that it renders 
the system pretty much useless from a usability point of view IMO.
