Sorry, I failed giving more news about this issue and how I working
around it. I should have, sorry for that.
I think it is an issue with the plasma widget, yes. I managed to
configure my connections as system connections and they work as
expected....as long as they're definied as system connections.
The plasma widget does indeed display a "forbidden" sign for the
wireless connection (red circle with an oblique bar) while the wired
connection, which is defined as a user connection is working as
expected.
So, in short, I suspect a permission problem somewhere.
