[Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#640793: hal: Suspends immediately after resume on laptop lid open

Malcolm Gillies bts at ouabain.org
Wed Sep 7 12:25:59 UTC 2011

Package: hal
Version: 0.5.14-3
Severity: normal

When I open the lid, my laptop resumes from ACPI suspend then
immediately goes back to sleep. If I push the power button it comes back
up and stays on. The laptop is a Thinkpad X31

Possibly related reports are #575175, #610497 and #559171.

The problem does not occur if I run gnome-power-manager (which I'd prefer
not to do -- I am using Xfce).

The problem only appeared after upgrading from Lenny to Squeeze. At the
same time I switched from KDE3.5 to Xfce (I also have a suspicion that Lenny
managed suspend/resume using ACPI scripts rather than HAL).

Under Lenny I was running kernel linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.2-686
2.6.32-8~bpo50+1
