So... dark incantation here. I dont know where this came from, but eye
of newt, bloodied tear drop of spider egg and this:

# cat /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d# cat org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pkla 
[nm-applet]
Identity=unix-group:netdev
Action=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.*
ResultAny=yes
ResultInactive=no
ResultActive=yes

presumably restarting polkitd then picks that up.

This has been my first experience with policy-kit, and I must ask how
this could possibly be an improvement. Passing along obscure chunks of
cargo-cult to get normal every day things to work? Did we take a time
machine back to 1997 linux days? arg.
