Hi Daniel,

I ended up here for the same reason than you. I think that the dialog 
box for network settings is not very clear (or my mind is not yet 100% 
formatted to gnome 3 widgets or it's too early in the morning): the 
labels are light gray like the settings button when it's not available. 
So it gives the impression that the whole dialog box is disable. Then 
you try to select a network name by clicking in the drop-down menu 
'Network Name', but it does not work unless you specifically click on 
the arrow at the right of the widget. Then you can select 'Other...' in 
the list.
