[Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#776757: upower: libupower-glib.so segfaults preventing system boot (Gnome loading)

Dear Maintainer,

After doing a dist-upgrade on a desktop workstation from a 10 month out 
of date version of jessie/testing to current jessie/testing, the system 
fails to load properly on reboot. The Gnome "Oh no!" error is shown and 
dmesg shows the following:

[   30.805484] gnome-settings-[1089]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f83a1a15439 
sp 00007fff8f635a90 error 4 in libupower-glib.so.3.0.1[7f83a1a05000+22000]
[  121.215428] gnome-shell[1318]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f5f03fc13e9 sp 
00007fffd18674c0 error 4 in libupower-glib.so.3.0.1[7f5f03fb1000+22000]

I have tried using the libupower-glib3 package in testing (0.99.1-3.1) 
and experimental (0.99.2-1) and neither version changes the problem.
