Package: network-manager
Version: 1.1.90-6
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I am trying to let NM manage my hardwired interface and let /e/n/i manage my
wifi. Backwords. I know.

Both the wifi and hard-wired interfaces work with NM.

The changes I made to have /etc/network/interfaces manage the wifi is:

1. Add the following stanza to /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf:

[keyfile]
unmanaged-devices=mac:74:da:38:41:26:d1

2. Add the following stanza to /etc/network/interfaces:

allow-hotplug enx74da384126d1
iface enx74da384126d1 inet static
    address 172.20.20.0
    netmask 255.255.255.0

The results are:

1. The enx74da384126d1 (wifi) interface is no longer in the NM UI. Which is
expected.

2. Also, the enx74da384126d1 (wifi) is configured with the L3 address. Which is
expected.

The NM UI shows the hard-wired interface never becoming configured. Here are
the logs:

Feb 13 18:06:03 zergling avahi-daemon[330]: Interface enxb827eba59dfb.IPv6 no
longer relevant for mDNS.

I did perform a tcpdump on the DHCP server and never saw packets come in from
the system in question.

Thanks for the help!
