Shutdown/reboot hang and eventually complete
A STOP JOB IS RUNNING FOR AVAHI MDNS/DNS/SD STACK
I was new to GNU/Linux before October, 2015. I first knew the GNU/Linux by the
mid 2010. I started using Ubuntu GNU/Linux in October 12, 2015 as my exclusive
Operating System. Then I changed from Ubuntu Unity to Debian Gnome in favour of
rock solid stability. All my hardware just worked out of the box atop Ubuntu
14.04 LTS and the only drawback is the lack of gracefulness of Unity Desktop
Environment itself. I mean no hardware problems ever existed with Ubuntu, just
the emotional problems relating to its software like the sluggishness of evince
thumbnail side pane view etc...
My current Debian box also worked outright ---the Haswell graphic, the
hibernation, the suspend.
The system nevertheless is sometimes randomly and intermittently taking 2 to 3
minutes to reboot/shutdown. It stuck in complete blank command line screen like
the one we saw when there's no X is installed.
Debian GNU/Linux Debian 8 tty1
debian login:
Nothing could be typed. SysRq+ALT+R E I S U B or any keys could be used. After
3 to 4 minutes it shutdown/reboot normally. The message just before the
reboot/shutdown read like this:
A STOP JOB IS RUNNING FOR AVAHI MDNS/DNS/SD STACK.
With three *(asterisk), going back and forth, it showed.
This will be my second and last error. The first one was Wi-Fi network USB card
related and solved by compiling a driver myself, a mighty challenge for me
indeed. I first thought that the not rebooting or halting error was caused by
my newly installed USB Wi-Fi card hence I fresh install the system and wait it
still happens and it did.
Is there any workarounds? I love Debian very much.
If only this error is solved, my journey to the Linux side will almost be
whole.
Help me please!
