Package: network-manager
Version: 1.2.0-1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
on Debian Stretch, my wireless USB adapter (which needs firmware-realtek),
does NOT automatically establish a wireless connection.
Under the Gnome pop-up (click top-left screen edge), I do NOT see anything about wireless.
dmesg shows
~~~~~~~~~~~
[ 5.742746] r8712u: module is from the staging directory, the quality is unknown, you have been warned.
[ 5.744667] r8712u: register rtl8712_netdev_ops to netdev_ops
[ 6.062120] usb 1-2: r8712u: MAC Address from efuse = 00:87:33:55:3e:50
[ 6.062124] usb 1-2: r8712u: Loading firmware from "rtlwifi/rtl8712u.bin"
[ 6.062281] usbcore: registered new interface driver r8712u
[ 6.065014] usb 1-2: firmware: direct-loading firmware rtlwifi/rtl8712u.bin
[ 6.070499] r8712u 1-2:1.0 wlx008733553e50: renamed from wlan0
My current (manual) workaround: I need to manually issue this command:
sudo service network-manager restart
============================
Then wireless appears in the Gnome pop-up and connects!
dmesg then shows:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks for any pointers.
