Interesting, it partly helps! I can select hotspots with nmcli now and
it seems to be ok so far.
However, now nm-applet does not work anymore. I tried to investigate
strace output and couldn't see the reason. It simply shuts down and
exits shortly after some dbus communication. I tried to trace that
communication but the results are inconclusive (at least IMHO):
