Ah. OK. That's fine then for the stable update.
I think therefore that this should be approved. I hope RMs have time
to formally approve it although we're a bit late now :-/.

I agree with you that this wider discussion is all out of scope for
the stable update. The question is only the appropriate workarounud
for the situation we have.
