Hm, can't reproduce the issue here, just tested a OpenVPN connection
successfully with NM 1.12.0.
Could you share the config of the VPN connection (you'll find it in
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/). Make sure to remove any
sensitive data.

A NetworkManager debug log would be helpful as well.
