It seems to only affect nm-applet.
I've been testing with gnome-control-center and gnome-shell and nmcli,
that's why I couldn't reproduce it initially.
The dev-type was a red-herring, as I was switching to nm-applet at the
same time when adding that to the config.

I poked upstream via IRC about this and they could reproduce it as well,
so the said to have a look.
