[Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#914932: flatpak: accumulation of /var/tmp/flatpak-cache-XXXXXX directory

Dear Maintainer,

By curiosity I have done a look at the /var/tmp directory to discover an accumulation of flatpak-cache-XXXXXX for months for my single user. Is that really something desired? What could be the situation on a server? Should not it be in at least in /tmp?
