Package: policykit-1
Version: 0.105-25
Severity: wishlist
Hello Utopia Team,
Summary is as in Subject: Versions, Upstream version versus Debian version
Upstream is at version 0.116 ( https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/polkit/polkit/-/tags )
Debian version is 0.105-something ( https://salsa.debian.org/utopia-team/polkit/blob/master/debian/changelog )
Debian changelog talks about changes from upstream version 0.114 and 0.116.
Having Debian version 0.105-25 installed
and invoking `pkaction --version` yields "0.105"
<screenshot>
$ dpkg -l policykit-1 | grep ^ii
ii policykit-1 0.105-25 amd64 framework for managing administrative policies and privileges
$ pkaction --version
pkaction version 0.105
$
</screenshot>
To me is this version "randomness" very unclear.
My wish is that the debian directory gets information on the idea behind
staying at version "0.105".
AFAIK would debian/README.source (
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-source.html#source-package-handling-debian-readme-source
) a good place.
Groeten
