This actually affects more users than just users of the GNOME desktop.
For instance, the installation of the zenity package (whose goal is
to display graphical dialog boxes from shell scripts) yields the
installation of pipewire via dependencies. So...

I entirely agree.

In particular, headphones handling is buggy with pipewire-pulse
(bug 998073), so this package should not be installed by default.
