[Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#1016544: pipewire-pulse: pacmd says no pulseaudio daemon running

Package: pipewire-pulse
Version: 0.3.56-1
Severity: normal

Many of the pipewire docs imply that pacmd ought to work even when pipewire-pulse is running.

Unfortunately, when I run

hartmans at industrial-algebra:~(1)> pacmd info
No PulseAudio daemon running, or not running as session daemon.

Other users on #debian-devel reported the same.
strace gets as far as reading $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/pulse/pid, then looking up info on that process in /proc, then starting to open message catalogs.

I'm happy to provide more information as needed.
