Package: pipewire-system-services
Version: 1.4.8-1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainers,
First of all, many thanks for having created this package which is
wonderful to facilitate the work with system-wide screen readers.
However at the moment regular users have lost access to the
ability to play sound.
I believe this is because of an ownership problem on the
/var/run/pipewire/pipewire-0 socket: currently it belongs to user
pipewire and to the nogroup group.
I am unsure about where and how to best resolve this problem:
I have not been able to find where the /var/run/pipewire directory
is created. Also, by reading the corresponding systemd unit fiiles
I seem to understand that the sockets should belong to the pipewire
group. I confirm this group exists on my system so I am clueless
on why the socket belongs to the nogroup rather than the pipewire group.
Lastly, even if all that would work, I guess that would mean that
the users which are expected to be able to use audio should also
be added to the pipewire group and I am thus wondering whether
it wouldn't be simpler to just make the sockets owned by the
already existing audio group?
Thanks,
Seb.
