Maybe. It's certainly not a required flag to make the build succeed...
so it could be dropped there but if it was added in the first place,
it's for a purpose (hardening I guess).

Maybe it was not envisioned that the library could be linked to
plugins that would depend on other unavailable external symbols.

Or maybe it's your responsibility to drop it because you know that
you are building a plugin where this option is not usable. Ccing Christoph
Berg to have his opinion.
